Language Arts

This is the answer key to Learn to Write the Novel Way.... It is not entirely necessary if you are comfortable with basic language arts. However, if you prefer the ease of having the answers at your fingertips, this little book is just what you need.

This workbook is designed for younger students and includes puzzles and worksheet pages to provide further spelling practice. I personally haven't felt the need to use these, but rather use the regular response book for all my children. If you want to provide additional practice for your young student, this may be your answer. See below for information on the Sequential Spelling program. Though the workbook/response book is optional, I have found them to be very helpful. As mentioned, I opt for the response book rather than the workbook.

This is a level two teacher book only. If you are doing Sequential Spelling Level 2 with a younger student, you can purchase a separate level one workbook for younger students (with puzzles and additional spelling practice) (see links below). I personally use the generic response book for all my students regardless of age. But, remember, you are the best judge for YOUR student.  

This is a level six teacher book only.  The response book is optional (there is no child's workbook for this level). You can do sequential spelling on regular notebook paper; however, I have found the response book to be very helpful to organize the many "tests" and to condense work into a small booklet. This teacher's guide provides much more than just answers; it also includes an assignment checklist; objectives for the course; evaluation forms/rubrics; advice on grading, including extensive information on how to earn an "A, B, C," etc.; how to help students self-edit; guidelines; methods; monthly 14-minute "power surge" exercises; and other helpful teaching information. Answers are provided, and arranged by lesson and practice number. They're line-listed with the questions provided, and the answers in italics.

This is one of the most logical, well-written, user-friendly high school level writing courses I have yet found. It is designed to gently and thoroughly develop your student's writing skills. Two things you need to know about Sharon Watson: she herself is an amazing writer, so her course is fun and interesting rather than textbookish; and she's incredibly encouraging. In fact her objectives for the course are two-fold: to gain in competence/skill AND to impact the student's attitude toward writing through encouragement and success.
