Early Education

Always discounted at Schoolhouse Publishing!

The early-education years are the most important years of your child's academic life. It is during these years that his opinions and feelings about education will be formed. Once formed, it is very difficult to change those opinions and feelings. That being the case, I have always preferred to homeschool my little ones in ways that are endearing, interesting, and incorporates short attention spans and their need for activity. I want them to learn, at this stage, that they love school, that learning is fun, and that the challenge and hard work involved in learning is well-worth the reward.  The programs listed on these pages won't look like your typical sit-behind-a-desk-and-do-your-work curriculum.  They are easy to implement and fun.  Spend some time browsing through the pages of our early education homeschool curriculum, books, and toys for your preschooler or kindergarten student.

First Language Lessons, written by Jessie Wise (co-author of The Well Trained Mind), is essentially a day-by-day, word-for-word, activity-by-activity script for the parents. It contains everything you need for 1st grade: memory work, stories, copy and dictation work, narration, and grammar. It even contains reminders to praise and encourage your child!

Balto, the Bravest Dog Ever, is based on the true story of an Alaskan sled dog. In 1925 there was an outbreak of diptheria in Nome, Alaska.  Two children desparately need medicine, but the train bearing the life-giving medicine is stuck in the snow 700 miles away.
