Grammar

Grammar curriculum is always discounted at Schoolhouse Publishing!

For years I held the view that grammar was not essential for homeschool students as long as they read good books and listened to well-spoken individuals.  Recently I've changed my opinion.  As we've tried to teach our kids how to write well, how to speak foreign languages, and even how to speak publicly - we've come to realize that all these skills need a firm foundation in English grammar.  We've put together a list of the best grammar programs available here for you.

Big Bad Grammar Slammer

Softcover, 96 pgs, 9780975499795

What a fun way to learn sentence diagramming! Designed for grades 5-12, the Grammar Slammer provides easy instruction for a complicated subject (at least complicated to ME!). Karen Newell, author of Write On! (one of my favorite creative writing programs - see link below),  is a gifted teacher. Your students will find her approach interesting, non-threatening, and friendly. Skills are reinforced with a game (instructions and "cards" included) for one or more students.
