Italic Handwriting G

Getty-Dubay Italic Handwriting Book G

his is the seventh of a seven book series (K-6th grade) providing instruction in italic handwriting. We recommend Book G for students in the sixth grade and beyond (although older students might prefer our more comprehensive book for adults "Write Now"). The final book in the series contains practice paragraphs acquainting the student with a brief history of the origins of our letters, from cave paintings to copperplate.

This is, hands-down, my favorite program for teaching penmanship. Using a method slightly different, but vastly easier and more logical than the traditional looped cursive we were taught, italic-handwriting cursive letters look just like their printed counterparts. do you remember all the odd-ball letters we had to re-learn in the transition from print to cursive? those b's, r's, f's, and s's (to name a few) were so-o-o confusing! Italic cursive, however, is easy-to-read, easy-to-learn, elegant, and quick flowing. did you know italic cursive was the hand of royalty? I've even changed my own handwriting to cursive italic! There are 7 books in the series, covering approximately K-6. When choosing the right book for your student, keep in mind that the first 2 books use very large lines for writing practice. The other books in the series are fairly similar. If you have an older student who has already learned cursive, but refuses to use it, I would recommend jumping in at Book E. He'll get a thorough review of letters, but still get a full introduction to the italic method.

"Book G" is a comprehensive self-instruction program in basic and cursive italic. Practice covers the history of our alphabet and decorative calligraphy!
