Pyramid by David Macauley
Macauley's books always serve to make historical mysteries come alive - and this book is no exception. So, how did ancient Egyptians build a pyramid with "primitive" tools? Pyramid, with detailed illustrations, demonstrates one possibility. A fictional story of an Egyptian Pharoah is woven throughout the illustrations, making this book not only interesting to look at - but a living history books as well. Mummies and the mummification process are also fictionalized and illustrated (boys especially love the gross factor, if you know what I mean). If you are studying ancient Egypt in your homeschool this year, this book will spark interest in your students. This book is recommended reading in Illuminations and Tapestry of Grace.
