Paddle to the Sea is a classic, about a young Indian boy who carves a canoe that travels through the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean. The text and pictures provide an excellent geographical and historical picture of the region. Paddle to the Sea is a wonderful addition to any home school library, and is a fun and imaginative way to learn some United States geography.  Paddle to the Sea is a Caldecott Honor Book.
