Introducing The Mystery of History by Linda Lacour Hobar. To quote (and I concur) “Classical, chronological, complete - a user-friendly family curriculum. The Mystery of History provides a historically accurate, Bible-centered approach to learning ancient history. Written by a proponent of making the classical method easier to use. The research has already been done for you! Learn how God, since the beginning of time, has sought to reveal Himself to man. Plenty of worthwhile projects will occupy the younger set while older students are doing their completely planned lessons, making this a dream course for busy homeschoolers.” How refreshing to have a curriculum that is fun, academically and biblically sound, complete, and multi-level! This year I used The Mystery of History with my 4th, 7th, 9th, and 11th graders. Together we did map studies and built a timeline, read some of Hobar’s literature suggestions, and went over the lessons and quizzes. Separately the boys did projects and creative writing using Hobar’s ideas. We have learned so much! Here’s what is included in The Mystery of History: detailed and lively text, lesson plans, a cumulative review system, historical photos, quizzes, semester and year-end tests, project and activity suggestions (some included, some you put together yourself), timeline and mapping assignments, teaching suggestions, answer keys, outline maps, reproducible student pages, and supplemental reading and video lists. What more could you ask for in a history curriculum? The photograph shows a fun project from Mystery of History, which turned Stephen into a Mediterranean pirate. Hopefully Pompey the Great will be able to stop him before he carries through with his dastardly deed! This is one history lesson the kids won't soon forget! The Mystery of History, Volume 1, covers ancient history from creation to the resurrection. Discounted. Retail $49.95.
