You will travel to the pre-Civil War world of Elsie. Elsie and her father seem to have reconciled, but can he ever accept his daughter's faith? Or will his pride lead to tragic consequences? What is the terrible decision Elsie must make? If your daughters have been turned off by Elsie Dinsmore in the past, then you’re in for a pleasant surprise. Elsie Dinsmore reprints have been around for decades. I’ve read them, and I’ve tried reading them to my girls. Though I’ve enjoyed them, my girls weren’t overly thrilled with them. I was very excited when I heard of the project by Missions Press. They not only reprinted them, but rewrote them to make them friendly and accessible to today’s girls. I was a bit skeptical, wondering if they would be able to maintain the character of Elsie while making her more pertinent to this century. They’ve done a wonderful job of rewriting these classics without ruining them. My 10-year-old daughter is devouring these paperback books! Mission Press has gone a step further, and has created an entire web site/club for Christian girls, based on the Elsie Dinsmore characters and books. The club encourages girls in their faith, their personal devotions, and even in feminine skills. Check out the club at www.lifeoffaith.com for exciting testimonies of how God is using these books in the lives of young girls across the nation. Currently we are carrying 8 books from this series.
