Revolution: A Civics Study Based on a Study of the Revolutionary War

by Susan Kemmerer

Revolution is an exciting, creative writing project for secondary students based on the events surrounding the Revolutionary War. What was it like during that period in our country's history? What was it like to make decisions of that magnitude? You will have an opportunity to experience history through the pages of this guide. How does it work? As you complete your assignments, your teacher will decide whether or not you have achieved your objectives. Did you win the court case? The election? If so, you will proceed to the next lesson. If, however, you don't achieve your objectives, you will proceed to an alternate lesson. You are led step-by-step through the process of creating your own country. You must find a presidential candidate, declare your independence (which will probably cost you your life), design a flag and money, write and amend a constitution, appear in court – and much, much more! Don't be alarmed! Although you will have to think through many situations, this guide will lead you step by step through this amazingly complex yet delightfully simple project... a project that will give you new appreciation for the history of our country and the godly wisdom of our Founding Fathers. Fun, easy, and VERY educational! I know it sounds like a lot of work, but all the work and research has been done for you! This is truly a homeschool-friendly book. Your student will learn more about the Revolution and our Constitution than you ever thought possible.

So far, three of our 4 children have completed this books- and all have greatly enjoyed it. Who would not want to create their own country ? The kids found that there is much more to it than they had originally thought... laws to be made, a constitution to write, taxes.... I had a great time reading what they would do for it all showed alot about their priorities. This is a very fun book, yet it is a very thinking book, a book that makes you take a second glance at our own country... and at other ones as well. I would heartily recommend it for anyone wanting to show their children just how much is involved behind the scenes, how much work went into starting our country and how many things we need to thank the Lord for.
