Date added: 07/09/2013 Get those Affidavits and Objectives in!

Home School Affidavits and Objectives

Yes, it's that time of the year again for those of you who live in Pennsylvania! But don't despair. It's much easier than you might think. I've attached a simple form you can fill out and turn in to your school district if you don't already have one. To make it even easier, I would suggest that you take the time to retype it and save it on your own computer with all the information already filled in. Then in subsequent years all you have to do is change the dates and grades.

As part of the affidavit, you'll see a sample of my objectives. You'll see they're pretty basic, with very little detail. I change the photos each year (but you don't have to even have photos!), and the subject and book titles (you don't have to have book titles either). Basically if you say "Bobby will be learning grade-appropriate math," etc., you should be fine.

And, if you live close to us, Dale is a notary. He would be happy to notarize your affidavit for you - for free. Just shoot us an email so he can set a time for you!

Date added: 07/09/2013 Earn Cash For Curriculum!

In this economy it's always helpful to find ways to either save money or make money. We at Schoolhouse Publishing truly understand - as we've experienced unemployment for nearly two years in the past (we really are homeschooling right alongside you!). We wanted to find ways to make your homeschool curriculum even more affordable.

Here's how: Simply write a review for your favorite books and curriculum here on our website, and we'll pay you $1 per review, good toward purchases at Schoolhouse Publishing (see below for details)!

  • Go to any book on our website, click on the review tab, and type in your review.
  • Each review must be at least 1 paragraph in length explaining why you liked the book or curriculum, or how your kids liked it, or how you used it. You can review up to 10 different products (a total of $10 earned).
  • Shoot us an email letting us know you wrote a review so we can email you back. On August 1, we'll email you a coupon code in the amount you earned, good toward any purchase at Schoolhouse Publishing (just enter your coupon code when you check out, and the amount earned will be deducted from your total). Multiple family members can also write reviews, but it will have to be under their own account.
  • As the old adage goes: if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. It is our intention to be encouraging to all our suppliers. One bad review can ruin a business. Though you may hate a particular curriculum or book, someone else is going to maintain it is their favorite. That being the case, we ask you limit your comments to books you really like - although, within that category please feel free to state difficulties or concerns you had with it. In this way, we can be a source of encouragement to those who are working hard to provide quality books and curriculum for homeschoolers.
  • This offer is good through July 31. Coupon codes will be emailed August 1. Coupon codes will be good through December 31.

We hope this will help you prepare for you coming school year. May God richly bless you as you homeschool your precious children!

Date added: 04/11/2013 Chuck Black Books Available at Schoolhouse Publishing

Schoolhouse Publishing is pleased and excited to announce we are carrying Chuck Black books - and at an amazing discount!  These allegories teach godly character, the adventure captures the imaginations of all ages, and the action keeps teenagers engrossed from cover to cover...even non-readers! They are GREAT read-alouds!  Deep symbolism with an action story makes excellent reading for ages 8 to adult.   Author Chuck Black says, "When my six kids' eyes glossed over during a reading from the Bible, I paused to explain the significance of redemption to a sin-sick soul. I was rewarded with patronizing elephant nods and more blank stares. Shortly thereafter, I awoke in the middle of the night with a medieval story enveloping my mind. I wrote it down and later read it to my children. Their waning attention transformed into complete anticipation. I was amazed and disappointed. Why did it take a fictional story, not a Bible passage, to get that response? Then I realized--that is how Jesus taught! Parables are powerful! I penned the Kingdom series to help young people get excited about the supremely significant story of Jesus Christ and His mission to save mankind."

The Kingdom Series novels and the Knights of Arrethtrea are biblical allegories that are set in a medieval time period. They are full of action and adventure where swords, knights, and battles are all biblically symbolic. The characters portray courage, loyalty, discipline, and honor. There is no magic, wizardry, or mysticism in the Kingdom Series.

Purchase individual titles at 20% off retail or complete sets at 25% off retail!

Kingdom Series by Chuck Black

Date added: 03/20/2013 Hello Cincinnati!

Schoolhouse Publishing is heading to Ohio! We'll have a HUGE store at the GHC Midwest convention, April 4-6, with all your favorite curriculum and literature at the best prices around! Not only that, but you can meet and talk to Featured Speaker Susan Kemmerer AND Featured Speaker Larry Schweikert at the Schoolhouse Publishing booth! Both of these popular authors/speakers will be signing books and available to chat with you only at Schoolhouse Publishing at GHC Cincinnati!

Also, you'll get an awesome reuseable shopping bag, free with any purchase at Schoolhouse Publishing. These shopping bags are BIG - and cute: purple with yellow sunflowers.

For great homeschool articles and product reviews, be sure to bring your Schoolhouse Publishing Magalog with you to the convention. If you don't have a magalog, you can download one from our home page or sign up on our mailing list. (By the way, we know how busy you are, so we don't inundate you with mail - just 2 mailings per year - and we don't give or sell our list to anyone.)

If you aren't familiar with us, we're a homeschooling family just like you.  We've been homeschooling for nearly a quarter century, and know what you're experiencing.  We have experience and have used just about every curriculum out there and carry over a thousand different titles.  We love to answer your questions and help you when you need it.  We're homeschooling right alongside you!

Can't wait to see you all in Cincinnati!
