Slumber Party includes patterns to make 3 variations of pajamas, as well as a bag to carry their blanket and pillow, and a sleeping mask. The pajamas are sized for girls from about size 8-10 up to juniors. Both my girls made the smallest size on the pattern, and we adjusted it slightly downward for my 9-year-old. My mom taught me to sew when I was just a little girl. Though I’ve never been an avid seamstress, those skills have proven invaluable over the years. I’ve done some projects of which I’m quite proud. When I saw how expensive the clothing is for Life Of Faith dolls and other designer dolls, I sewed an entire wardrobe prettier than the store-bought ones at a fraction of the cost. Curtains. A quilt. Mother-daughter dresses. Cushion covers. Bridesmaid dresses...all things I wanted but couldn’t afford unless I made them myself. So, I really want my girls to have the same skills. I found this great line of project books that teach girls how to sew. Each book comes with full-sized patterns for making 6-8 projects.
What I like: The projects are easy and stylish, with stunning results. My girls really enjoyed these! (They are 9 and 12.) What I don’t like: Some of the explanations aren’t clear enough to be entirely self-directed. You, as the teacher, should have basic sewing skills to help explain things as you go. All in all, this was the course my girls begged to do. Each of my daughters made 2 pairs of pajamas using this book (a winter pair and a summer pair).
