All of a Kind Family by Sidney Taylor

All of a Kind Family is one of my daughter's favorite stories. It features 5 sisters growing up in a Jewish household in New York City. Each of the daughters has a distinct personality that my girls could relate to: the tomboy, the miss priss, the talented one, the kind one, the cute one, etc. The time period is early 20th century. The book is full of funny stories, wonderful lessons, and heartwarming love. When we read this book out loud, each of my daughters would play-act one of the sisters. They loved it! The end of the book contains a wonderful surprise.

This book is required reading for the Notgrass America the Beautiful history curriculum.
